Nirvana

Nirvana logo

Formed in 1987, Nirvana was an American alternative rock band from Washington consisting of 3 members: Kurt Cobain (lead vocals & guitar),  Krist Novoselic (bass) & Dave Grohl (drums & backing vocals). They only released 3 studio albums out of which their second album Nevermind (1991) was a massive success. The band rose to instant prominence with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their second album. Despite their brief career span of 7 years (due to Kurt Cobain's death in 1994), they are considered as one of the most influential rock bands ever.
