Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known commonly as "EMINEM" or "Slim Shady" is an American rapper and songwriter. He hails from Detroit, Michigan. His first album was Infinite released in 1996 which he himself confesses was not quite a success. He gained immense popularity after the release of his second album The Slim Shady LP (1999). He has won 15 Grammy Awards till date and is known as the King of Hip-Hop. He also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself" from the hip-hop film 8 Mile starring himself, thus making him the first rap artist to win the award. He also owns 3 label records: Aftermath Records, Shady Records and Interscope Records (with Dr. Dre).
